Prenatal Care

Getting regular medical examinations should be a top priority for every pregnant woman, starting in the first three months. These visits can help doctors spot and manage complications early, and women can be advised on how to handle chronic health problems that may affect the pregnancy. If you have private health insurance, check that you are covered for prenatal care under your policy; not every plan covers prenatal visits, and you may be required to purchase supplemental insurance or upgrade your existing plan to pay for them. Be sure to investigate the terms when choosing one. In developing nations, institutionalized prenatal care is largely nonexistent, and prenatal care is not covered under most insurance policies.
