Home Ownership

Lien

A lien is a creditor's claim against property to secure the payment of a debt or the performance of some other obligation. When the debt is paid, the lien is removed. The owner of the property, who grants the lien, is referred to as the lienor, and the person who has the benefit of the lien is referred to as the lienee. Liens may also be granted by courts to satisfy judgements.
