Trustee

A trust is a mechanism for holding and managing the assets of someone's estate. Often, people will establish trusts to take advantage of certain inheritance tax reliefs while retaining control over the ultimate destination of their estate, or if they want their children to receive their inheritance only when they have reached a certain age and level of maturity. The trustee holds the legal title to the assets upon trust for the beneficiaries. The trustee's duty is to administer the assets in the trust and eventually distribute them according to the terms of the trust. The trustee can be a solicitor, a professional money manager, a trusted family friend or advisor, or some combination.
