Donations and Grants
These are gifts to an organisation or individual to undertake charitable activities. Typically, donations to charities come with no strings attached, but if you would like your gift to be used for a specific purpose, you can send a "letter of intent" beforehand indicating your intentions to the charity. This type of donation, sometimes known as a "grant", may require some monitoring by an independent party if the project is ongoing. The party can check to see if the terms and conditions of the grant are being met and if the goal of the grant is likely to be achieved.
