An angel investor is a high-net-worth individual who invests in young entrepreneurial companies. Angels offer cash in return for equity in the business. Some of those with deep pockets are seasoned business professionals who like to provide management advice. Entrepreneurs who need an angel can sometimes find one by searching Web-based directories of investors or by networking with local business leaders. The system of angel investors is less entrenched in other countries. For instance, angels are hard to come by in India, although in the wake of the IT boom, more investors are looking to put their money into startups.
